Chemotherapy Side Effects
Chemotherapy works by destroying cancer cells. Because there is no guarantee that chemotherapy will target a cancer cell over a healthy one, side effects are a possibility. Common side effects include:
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Mouth sores
- Low blood counts
- Hair loss
- Increased risk of infection
- Easy bruising or bleeding
While some side effects are temporary, others can be life-threatening. Talk with your cancer care team about any side effects you experience so they can help you manage them successfully throughout your treatment cycles.
